Meet one of the “grandfathers of esports.” Marcus "djWHEAT" Graham’s influence can be found throughout the esports industry. He is currently Twitch’s Director of Twitch Studios. Graham was formerly a professional Quake player, coach and broadcaster. Since 1999, he has casted over 20 official esports titles across the globe and is a creator, host and producer.
Graham has broadcasted over 1,000 events ranging from online tournaments to live events. He worked a multitude of Quake, Counter-Strike and Dota games, Warcraft 3, Unreal Tournament, Street Fighter 4, Tekken, Clash Royale, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, League of Legends and Hearthstone. Graham has also done a number of major game releases including World of Warcraft, Diablo 3 and PlayStation 4’s launch.
His work as a planner, producer, host and speaker for TwitchCon is one of his favorite accomplishments. Graham is able to take over 15 years of experience in the industry and use it to the fullest.
He was exposed to his first games at 3 years old on the Atari 2600 and was hooked. Discovering Quake is what started Graham on his esports career. Graham’s first company, Inside The Game, did audio broadcasting from 2002 until 2007. He also worked as a creator, host and producer for Live on Three, which aired on his following company, OneMoreGame.tv.
Based out of San Francisco, California, Graham has a 13-year-old son affectionately called “miniWHEAT” and is a huge fan of TV, movies, comics and anime. Some of his favorite games are Ultima Online, Clash Royale, Braid and Beyond Good & Evil. He was the 2014 Dance Dance Revolution 4th Mix Midwest Freestyle Champion.
